Similar to the cutout trend, sheer garments are ever-present and perpetually reinvented. By definition, sheer fabric is made with thin thread and a low-density knit that creates semi-transparency. Once dedicated to stockings, dancewear, lingerie, and wedding gowns, “sheer” isn’t just a fabric term anymore, since it can also be applied to accessories. On the red carpet, we’ve seen a lot of sheer insets on gowns and sheer panels on skirts. However, sheer fabric is just as relevant and accessible for real-world street style.
